To further implement the Belt and Road Initiative, contribute to the building of a China–Laos community with a shared future, and promote the internationalization of the University, a delegation led by Mr. Song Chao, Vice President in charge of Development Planning, visited Laos from May 27 to 29, 2026, for educational exchange and cooperation activities.
Coinciding with the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Laos, the delegation carried out a series of exchanges focusing on international cooperation in vocational education, skilled talent cultivation, and the development of the Leizu Institute, achieving fruitful outcomes.

During the visit, the delegation met with Mr. Lavan Vongkhamsene, Deputy Director General of the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education and Sports of Laos, along with other officials. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on vocational education cooperation, professional standards development, teacher training, and the preservation and innovation of intangible cultural heritage. The Lao side highly commended the University’s achievements in areas such as intangible cultural heritage preservation, cultural tourism, and art and design education. They also expressed a strong interest in cooperating with the University through institutions such as Souphanouvong University in Luang Prabang to jointly develop academic programs, curricula, and teacher training initiatives.
The delegation also visited the China–Laos Friendship School affiliated with Savannakhet University to conduct exchanges and research on the preparatory work for the establishment of the Leizu Institute. Discussions focused on curriculum development, teacher training, and future collaborative projects. During the visit, the University donated electrical engineering teaching equipment to the school, providing support for future vocational skills training programs.
To facilitate the implementation of cooperative projects, University faculty members conducted a demonstration course on basic electrical engineering for students of the China–Laos Friendship School. Combining theoretical instruction with practical demonstrations, the training introduced fundamental electrical knowledge and safe electricity practices, receiving positive feedback from both teachers and students.
During the exchanges, both sides held extensive discussions on the development of programs such as “Chinese Language + Basic Electrical Engineering Skills” and “Chinese Language + Office Administration Skills.” Preliminary agreements were reached on joint curriculum development and collaborative teacher training. Moving forward, the two institutions will actively explore the “Chinese Language + Vocational Skills” talent cultivation model, creating more learning and career development opportunities for Lao youth.

In addition, the delegation gained a deeper understanding of the demand for skilled workers among Chinese-invested enterprises in Laos and explored innovative international talent development models featuring school-to-school cooperation, school-enterprise collaboration, and industry-education integration. These efforts aim to provide strong talent support for both overseas Chinese enterprises and local economic and social development.
The visit further strengthened the friendly relationship between the University and Lao educational authorities and institutions, expanded the University’s vocational education cooperation network across ASEAN countries, and laid a solid foundation for advancing the construction of the Leizu Institute, cultivating internationally competent talents, and serving the Belt and Road Initiative.
Taking the 65th anniversary of China–Laos diplomatic relations as a new starting point, the University will continue to deepen cooperation and exchanges with relevant Lao institutions, promote the effective implementation of collaborative projects, and contribute to educational cooperation and the high-quality development of vocational education between China and Laos.
