School of Foreign Languages

 

The School of Foreign Languages was started in 2009 based on the former Department of Foreign Languages.  It offers majors in Business English, Tourism English and Tourism Japanese with three-year study and self-taught undergraduate program as well.

We are proud of the highly qualified teaching faculty for higher courses as well as trained teachers working as contributory or visiting faculty. At present, the school has 1 professor and 4 associate professors. Besides, most of the faculty members have master’s degree.

The school has made significant achievements in teaching and scientific research. In recent years, the teachers have undertaken over 30 scientific research projects, including 7 state-funded projects and 6 provincial major projects. In addition, the teachers have published over 90 research papers and 14 books home and abroad.

The school is dedicated to the training of high caliber talents in foreign languages, foreign language education, international business, as well as tourism. It sticks to the principles of “Integration of Practice and Learning” and "Duo-Certificate Graduates" in students training. The school has established the Training and Tests Center of National Qualification Attestation for Foreign Trade Managers, and has cultivated abundant of graduates who have both working skills and high proficiency of foreign languages.

The school has signed Joint Education Agreements with  universities and educational organizations in France, America and Indonesia. To date, the school has sent about 15 students and over 5 teachers abroad for overseas study and academic exchanges.

The School is always active in collaborations with a lot of enterprises and provides a bright prospect of employment to the graduate for a long time.

Brief Introduction of the Majors

1.     Business English

Training Objectives:

Ø        To impart knowledge of the English language and culture;

Ø        To develop students’ language skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating English;

Ø        To prepare students for assignments and jobs involving international trade.

Main Courses:

  Integrated Skills of English; Business English Reading; English Listening; English Phonetics; Oral English; Business English Translation; English Interpretation; English Practical Writing; International Trade Theory and Practice; International Trade Documents (Bilingual Teaching); Foreign Trade Communication; E-business; Office Automation; Cross-cultural Business Etiquette.

2.     Tourism English

Training Objectives:

Ø        To impart knowledge of the English language and culture;

Ø        To develop students’ language skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing and translating English;

3.     Tourism Japanese

Training Objectives:

Ø        To impart knowledge of the Japanese language and culture;

Ø        To prepare students for assignments and jobs involving tourism.
